Commissioner Kirkwood brings over a decade of public service experience to the Board, having served as Orland Township committeeperson since 2021 and worked across multiple village departments for Orland Park.

Governor JB Pritzker announced Beth McElroy Kirkwood as his appointment to fill the vacant seat on the MWRD Board of Commissioners.

The method and technology patented is a renewable energy solution using GWT’s revolving algal biofilm (RAB™ƀ) system for cost-effective and environmentally friendly wastewater treatment.

The website offers insight into the MWRD’s work treating wastewater, managing stormwater and protecting area waterways and the source of the region’s drinking water in Lake Michigan.

MWRD commissioners are responsible for providing financial oversight and establishing policies and procedures which meet the MWRD’s objective of protecting the water environment for more than 5.19 million people living in Chicago and 128 suburban municipalities spread throughout Cook County.
