Earth Day cleanup of “Hazel Johnson EJ Way” set for April 22
Who: Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago's (MWRD’s) Calumet Community Partnership Council (CPC), Aldridge Elementary School, 9th Ward Ald. Anthony A. Beale, 10th Ward Ald. Peter Chico, Youth Guidance Community and After School Program, Golden Gate Homeowners Association, People for Community Recovery (PCR), and Smily’s Convenience Store
What: Clean up and beautification along Hazel Johnson EJ Way.
Where: 13330 S. Corliss Ave., Chicago
When: Monday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
As Earth Day approaches, the MWRD reaffirms its commitment to environmental justice, service and role as a responsible neighbor. The MWRD’s Calumet CPC, launched in 2022, will gear up for a productive morning to enhance the environment. Volunteers and neighbors of the MWRD’s Calumet Water Reclamation Plant are invited to join in cleanup efforts alongside esteemed partners in a collective effort to beautify the area along Hazel Johnson EJ Way.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own rakes, gloves, and trash bags. Alternatively,
9th Ward residents can pick up supplies at 13134 S. Vernon, next door to Golden Gate Park
10th Ward residents can pick up supplies at the PCR office located at 13330 S. Corliss Ave.
Clean-up activities will take place along 130th Street, spanning from Ellis Ave. to Michigan Ave., or at the Golden Gate Subdivision.
